I'M ENGAGED!!

Wow, so yeah, that happened.

Currently on day 3 of being a fiancé and I still don’t feel used to wearing the ring or even calling Josh that. BUT, it’s such an exciting time in my life that I didn’t see coming (Not completely at least 😉)

A little back story before i get into how it all happened. Josh and I have been together 4 years October 29th! We met when he was a sophomore in college and I was a junior. I wasn’t looking for a relationship but I had a friend (DJ) who wanted to play my wingman for that year. He worked his magic and helped introduce me to Josh. Funny story, Josh had heard it wasn’t me that liked him so he stopped his attempt to pursue me. Come to find out, it was actually me. From there we hung out more with his best friend and continued hanging our every night for 3 weeks until he asked me to be his girlfriend.

I’m probably the worst person to surprise because I somehow just find things out or piece things together. Which ruins all surprises. With our four year coming up, I thought it’d be the perfect time for it to happen. That’s because I’ll have my nails done, we’re dressing up AND going on a date so nothing would seem out of place, and I had sort of planned the anniversary dinner other than make a reservation.

Now to the story!

I had a feeling something was going on because both Josh and his mom were acting strange. I usually just show up to their house whenever but his mom told me to text before I come. At lunch Josh wasn’t eating and answering questions way too slow. Just odd…he picks me up and we go to our anniversary dinner. Nothing is too off as we’re having normal conversations but Josh again, doesn’t eat too much. As we drive home, he cannot stop talking. This guy found anything and everything to talk about.

We pull up to his house and you just see these fairy lights which are not there usually. Josh unsuspecting goes “wow, wonder what those are.” At this point, I know what’s happening but don’t know how to react. We walk over to the spot and I pretty much could not stop laughing. I was so giddy and nervous I could not just stop giggling. Josh is just making random comments like, “I wonder who’s flowers these are. This looks nice.” He pulls out the ring without saying anything, gets on one knee, and asks me to marry him. I can’t even recall if I said yes…

We took some photos and got ready for our surprise engagement party. I spent the rest of the night calling family and friends, spending it with family here, and just soaking it all in.

Another day I’ll tell you our relationship. But for now, I look back at our gracious God and the path He created that got us here. Without His guidance, Josh and I would not have gotten through some of those harder times. I pray that relationship only strengthens and continues in the future.
