On my heart: It's okay to not know what you're doing

Ever since we were little we were always asked, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Then as you start to age the questions start to vary into what extracurriculars are you doing, where are you going to college, what's your major, what job are you going to get, when are you getting engaged, when are you having kids, and it just seems to be one big continuous cycle.

There's always this expectation set that we need to know what we're doing and what our plan is for our life. Even job interviews want to know what your 5 year plan is.

Well, if you're anything like me then you have some pieces of your life picked out of ideal times to be married or have kids. But overall, I've always had a feeling I had no idea what I was doing. I still feel that way at 24 years old.

Most of the time these questions are coming from those who love us and want to see us succeed.

I'm here to tell you it's okay to not know what you're doing or what you're going to do.

Is that to say we shouldn't have aspirations or be content in doing nothing, no. That's to say it's okay to try different things, change careers. move somewhere new, or simply change your look.

In my story, I've never had a dream career. I've had a few things I'm interested in, but I can't tell you a single thing that I'd want to do for the rest of my life. I've tried different jobs to see what I do and don't enjoy doing. That's helped me to grow a lot throughout my careers!

I'm also lucky that my fiancé has these dreams and aspirations of what he wants his career to look like. He encourages me to just pursue things that make me happy and know the reason for why I want to do them. This blog and taking social media a little more seriously are a big thanks to him!

There's no set perfect plan. If there is, you'll probably be humbled by the Lord when your plan doesn't match the direction He's trying to take you. I know I have more times than I can even keep track of.

If you're reading this and feel like you have no idea what you're going to do. It's okay, take the time to write your wants and desires, what you enjoy doing, and even just who you want to be 5 years from now.

It's all going to work out the way it's supposed to! ❤️
